The Miracles performed by Jesus

2021-10-27 14894

According to the gospel accounts, Jesus performed very wonderful miracles throughout his short ministry life from his presence among the public at the age of 29 to 33 in which age he was crucified.

This is not a complete list of Jesus’ miracles according to John 21:25: "Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them was written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written."

All these miracles were witnessed by Jesus' disciples which were instantly written. Hens, what took place is accurate which cannot be challenged.  People who saw these miracles got surprised. Otherwise an average person like Jesus would not have been able to build 12 full-timers to follow him all the time and such a large number of followers within a very short time span.

The following miracles are described in the New Testament.

01.    Jesus changed water into wine (John 2:1-11).

Jesus and his disciples had been invited to a wedding at Cana in Galilee. Jesus’ mother too was among the invitees. When the wine was over in the ceremony Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.” “Woman, why do you involve me?” Jesus replied. “My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever Jesus tells you.”  There were six stone water jars which were used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet. “They did so, and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now. This was the first miracle found in the gospels.

02. Jesus cured the nobleman's son (John 4:46-50).

When Jesus visited Cana in Galilee, he came across a son of a Royal official who lay sick at Capernaum. When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death. Jesus said to him, “Unless you see signs and wonders you will not believe.

The official said to him, “Sir, come down before my child dies. Then Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The officer believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way back home. As he was going down, his servants met him and told him that his son had recovered.

When he heard this good news he asked his servants the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour] the fever left him.” Then the father realized that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.”

03. The great quantity of fishes (Luke 5:1-11).

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.

He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat. When he had finished the preaching, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.

” Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught any fish. But because you say so, I will do so “When he had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats.

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.” So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed Jesus.

04. Jesus cast out an unclean spirit (Mark 1:23-28).

By this time Jesus had a group of permanent followers. When Jesus came across a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit who cried out,

“What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are. The Holy One of God!”

“Be quiet!” said Jesus strictly. “Come out of him!” The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek. The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.
